Hi there,

I'm placing Flash in my page for use as a MP3 player. I want to keep it invisible to the user so they do not see it. However, I'm presenting them with options to select different music like 1, 2, or 3....

By making the selection, I need to play that sound/music. How can I interface with the flash movie (swf) using javascript so that I can avaoid a trip back to the server?

Thank You!

Hi Thank You!

Actually I do not want to display flash, however I wanted to use it's ability for MP3 behind the scene.

Basically so that users who do not have Flash can continue wit the interface without any changes in appearance and functionallity.

Any ideas on how I can interface with Flash without making trips to the server?

so you're using flash to play the music... so wouldnt it be a good thing if only poeple with flash can see the controls for the music? if i was looking at your site with some music controls and heard no music i'd think it wasnt a very well maintained site, but if i didnt have flash i would see nothing and hear nothing and continue surfing in gleeful ignorance to any music...;)

The controls would be there in a very simplistic way. I would require a simple music selection using mid or a wav to play the sound if Flash doesn't exist.

But if the user does have Flash etc... the music selection would be streamed and would be of better selection / quality.

Anyhow, I hope it is clear what I'm trying to achieve....

Thank You
