View Full Version : Do I need .flv or .swf ?

I downloaded a video from youtube and it comes in the
format of an .flv file

I have put it on my server ( Its called tables.flv )

When I look at flash playing embed code it seems to be using
.swf files

Do I need to convert the file from .flv to .swf in order to make it play from my website ?

I have loaded a couple of test pages on www.promotiongold.com

The tables.flv and the scrits are all on the root so you can see them with your browser.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

I would like to point to a different question which is copyrights. Assuming you did not make this video, it would actually be a violation of copyright to download and redistribute the video. Just because YouTube has it doesn't make it free for all, but rather your terms to use YouTube grant it the ability to show it. So without knowing if you have obtained permission or rights to show this video I will not assist at this time. Please reply truthfully, and if you do not have permission you should attempt to gain that. Otherwise it would be just like piracy.

PS: Both of your examples are wrong, because FLV cannot stand on its own on the web.
