View Full Version : How to make flash slideshow with thumbnails for client control

I need help creating a flash slideshow that's going to be part of a photography website (done in flash) that I am creating for a client. It needs to have thumbnails that the user can navigate through if the user doesn't want to view every image in order.

And one of the most important things I need help with is for the client to be able to change/add/delete... images herself, since the client is a photographer and always has new images to add.

Here is a website that has a slideshow that my client wants, the only thing this slideshow doesn't have is little thumbnails at the bottom which I need to have. The transitions can be crossfade or just fade in-and-out. If you go under the "weddings" category you will see the slideshow start automatically: http://www.sweetpeaphotography.com/index.html

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Use XML to load the images into flash. There are some good tutorials out there, and several threads here dealing with this topic. You will have to probably tweak the tutorials to have the desired effect, but if you have problems or concerns with that you can post them here as well.

Thank you jeremywilken! I really like the gallery on designerfolio website. I think this is what I need. I downloaded it and will try to configure some options tomorrow. I want to see how it will work and look on the website that I am creating for a client. I haven't tested it yet but I think this is the closest I have gotten to finding what I need. There are some other sites out there but for many of them you have to pay to use their galleries.

I think once I get the gallery going I will need to do some more research on php, because my client wants to be able to add/delete... images herself once the website will be completed. If you know any good links for creating a managing system of images with php I would really appreciate that.

Thank you very much.

Well, you can ask around in the PHP section for that information. I would imagine you will have to do some editing to the scripts to get it to export the XML files from the gallery as it needs to.
