Does anyone know of any reliable programs out there that can monitor web traffic on your site, maybe any that are free?

I am basically trying to find out which pages are accessed the most.

ASP Stats Generator (http://www.weppos.com/asg/en/default.asp) is a very good one distributed for free, all you have to do is leave the copyright information in the scripts.

to use this ASP Stats does my server have to be configured for asp programming. I just switched to php and was told it will no longer handle asp.

is this a problem?

ASP Stats generator runs solely off asp and javascript. With out support for both it wont work. I dont use php or php based servers so I'm unfamiliar with stats programs that will work on a php server.

However, you mentioned the server being configured for php..is this a personally owned server or a hosting package? If its a hosting package most come with stats tools installed at purchase.

only reason why I would tell you not to use analytics is that you will end up waising lots of time looking through all the cool stuff it can do :-P

Use statcounter as the_frog already recommended. Itís simple, free, and tells you a lot. It will only store up to 500 hits, though. But for a small to medium private website this is sufficient. Google Analytics is more about analyzing marketing strategies and stuff, and way too advanced if you just want to track who comes from where.
