View Full Version : overflow:scroll; hidden scroll bars behind bckgrd img.

Okay after careful consideration and thought I have now ditched the expanding image that I was asking for advice on, now need some additional help on my site.

I have used overflow:scroll; on my photo and text pages where the content box is smaller than the content.

But when it is overlapping the background photo, the scroll bars on the box are hidden. Whilst messing around with the image size in the background I noticed that the scroll bars become visible when the content box exceeded the boundaries of the background photo, so it seems that the background photo is hiding the scroll bars? I have tried using z-index of 1 on the background and the content box with a z-index of 2, this didn't resolve the issue but did take affect.

Any clues, I know the title is not relevant to the subject now so I'll see if I get any response and might need to start a new thread.

URL is the same:

Err okay so I have a two fold issue!

The page with the fault I was talking about originally was for example (there are a few pages using the same CSS)

I'll look into the IE issue now . . .

I'm not seeing the problem you are talking about but I got an idea that may help...

Try using overflow: auto; in stead of scroll. Scroll has given me overflow problems in the past as where auto hasn't.

Other than that the only thing I've seen is your new problem. What version of FF are you using?

Firefox . . . on a mac so never able to check IE, oh I miss IE, with its quirky nature and inability to meet standards . . .

Okay changed it to "auto" overflow and its still the same, so do you see the scroll bars on the photo div Tyrial101? With the image now being 1000x750 its hard to get a screen resolution where the div sticks out below the image now. But if you can, you'll see the scroll bars magically appear.

Out of interest I changed my #bg from a:

This resolved both the scroll bars disappearing on my photo and content2 divs and the scroll bars locking up on Firefox.

I would be interested to know if the image appears in IE now?
