View Full Version : Opening QuickTime prompt in new window using IE6

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting. I have been researching this issue for a week and have yet to come across a solution, so I finally decided to ask about it.

I have a page which pops up a new, fix sized window using JavaScript to display a QuickTime video:

href=\"javascript:void window.open(...

My problem occurs in IE 6 if the user does not have QuickTime installed. In IE 7 and Firefox, when the browser detects that QuickTime is not installed, it asks the user if he/she would like to install it. If they say yes, they are taken to the QuickTime download page in a new tab. However, in IE 6, the user is taken to the QT download page in the fixed size window. The window does not have scroll bars either, so navigating the page is nearly impossible from that window.

I would like to know if there is a way to force the browser to open the QT download page in a new window. Like I said before, I've been searching for about a week, but haven't had any luck. Perhaps I haven't been looking in the right places. If anyone knows how/if this can be done, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
