View Full Version : Imagemap co-ords won't match up, whatever I do

I'm designing a layout for my personal site, and I've been having a problem with the imagemap component. I'm using Imagemapic to do the co-ords and have never had a problem with it up til now.

Here is my background image: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v622/losted/background3.jpg

And here are the co-ords that I've got:

<area shape="rect" coords="199,345,222,399" href="" target="" alt="" />
<area shape="rect" coords="199,402,223,475" href="" target="" alt="" />
<area shape="rect" coords="199,476,223,545" href="" target="" alt="" />
<area shape="rect" coords="199,547,223,618" href="" target="" alt="" />
<area shape="rect" coords="199,621,223,701" href="" target="" alt="" />
<area shape="rect" coords="199,704,223,762" href="" target="" alt="" />
<area shape="rect" coords="199,764,223,802" href="" target="" alt="" />

(Taken out the links for convenience.)

As you can probably see, the links are meant to match up to the words New, Older, etc. on the image. But they don't, at least not in my .htm document. They're at least a centimetre or so off. I'm 100% sure that I did all the shapes right; I did them twice, in fact, to make sure. I really don't know what the problem is, can someone please help me?

Those don't appear to be the right coordinates. This is what I got that works as it should

<area shape="rect" coords="151,258,165,299" href="#" />
<area shape="rect" coords="151,302,165,355" href="#" />
<area shape="rect" coords="151,358,165,407" href="#" />
<area shape="rect" coords="151,410,165,462" href="#" />
<area shape="rect" coords="151,465,165,523" href="#" />
<area shape="rect" coords="151,527,165,600" href="#" />
This is with the image at 599 width and 800 height.

Thank you so much! If you don't mind me asking, what imagemapping program do you use? Or do you just use any old image editing program and just get the coordinates off there?

I used Dreamweaver. I've never liked image mapping by getting the coordinates.
