View Full Version : a standalone IE6 to install alongside IE7?

Hey all

I installed IE7 back when it was in beta and have kept up ever since, but I've recently come across a slight problem. I'm working on a site for someone who already had their designer come up with a load of (very nice) artwork, a lot of which really takes advantage of 24-bit PNGs with an alpha channel over a gradient background. While this is all fine and dandy for every browser I'm current testing it with (IE7, Firefox, Opera), I just realised that I've got no way of testing the site on IE6, specifically to see if the proprietary IE 'filter' property is working so that IE6 users will still see the site as intended.

I downloaded an apparent IE6 standalone (http://browsers.evolt.org/?ie/32bit/standalone), but it still shows all the images as flat PNGs. I've tested the program on a couple of other sites testing the IE 'filter' trick and it shows those images as flat with no transparency as well.

So, without being able to see if the filter is working, I'm kinda coding blind. does anyone have any recommendations?

I have been using http://tredosoft.com/Multiple_IE for some time...and seems to do the job very nicely

Note that you can install IE4, IE5, IE6.
