View Full Version : Help aligning images for different browsers

Hi all,

I've been searching everywhere to try and find some information about this question for the last few days, but havent found an answer yet......

I have recently set up a myspace for my arts business and have been trying to teach myself basic code to add images to the left hand column of my profile. I found the following code, and entered in the positions so it is 107px from the left and 650px from the top.

<img src="http://aycu34.webshots.com/image/15313/2000564723128318225_rs.jpg" style="position:absolute; left:107px; top: 650px;" border="0">

Now heres the problem. I can get the images to appear aligned on my Mac, however when I view my profile on a Pc the images are wayyyyyy out of position and covering up other things on my page. (I think this might be something to do with the different browsers and pixel shapes????)
What I would like to know is if there is another code that I could use that positions the image in a different way, so that the images are aligned with the other elements in this left hand column (that seem to stay in the correct alignment when viewed on both Safari (mac) and IE on a PC.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

warm regards

Basically, you shouldn't be using absolute positioning. We're not going to be able to help without actually seeing your page, but essentially you should remove the absolute positioning and get the alignment you want simply by margins (http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_margin.asp) to the images, and floating (http://www.w3schools.com/css/pr_class_float.asp) them as appropriate

I will read up on margins and floating items. However are there any websites that have code generators for changing these properties? (my code writing skills are pretty bad)

my myspace URL is http://www.myspace.com/meghanorourkejewellery
