View Full Version : Looking Mostly for Cross Browser Reviews

Hi Hi!

Here is the site:

This is one of my first stabs at really utilizing CSS. I'm aware that the transitional doctype can be frowned apon by many, but as I am trying to "transition" from table layouts, I really struggled trying to jump straight to strict.

I found myself using inline CSS more than I might have liked, as I was having issues wrapping my mind around all the inheritance rules across the browsers. So no comments on that, si vous plais, as I already know I'm committing that faux pas as well.

Mostly what I'm looking for is errors the site has, specifically in different browsers. Also, any pointers on making my CSS more intuitive, etc, is mucho appreciated. Lastly, any comments/tips on my implementation of the dynamic elements is appreciated as well.

I take criticism pretty well, so bash away.

I just took a quick look using IE6, FF2 and Opera 9.

First of all, nice job on this site. I like the color scheme and layout.

The only differences I noticed are on the Reservation page, the bottom menu is on one line in IE6 but on two lines in FF & Opera (Contact Us is wrapped to the second line). No problems, they both look good, just a minor difference.

However, in Opera I'm not getting the header_title.jpg. It is showing up in the other two though.

You do have a couple of validation errors that show you have a couple of divs that aren't closed, for example, the footer div has no closing tag.

On the home page the footer does not sit at the bottom, but about 200px off the bottom?? In Firefox it's right at the bottom. Also, talking about the footer on the travel.php page the footer appears half way down the scroll in Firefox, which generates a very nice effect, but in IE6 it is just at the bottom? Not sure which is meant?

Thanks, I think I'm going to go download Opera tonight to take a look at that issue. I'm looking at the site on the Mac at work today and seeing some strange things happening - the header is screwy in Safari, and IE Mac is stacking the menu.

Dang - I thought I'd validated everything though. I'll go back and revalidate. As for that footer, I need to find a different way of doing it I think, it's acting pretty unreliably across platforms.

Thanks so much for taking a look guys. :D
