Hello,

I am a fairly new programmer and have been put in charge or a professor's website. So far I have limited experience with CSS and HTML.

The problem I am having is with ordered lists in IE. The numbers will not show up, however, they do show up in firefox. I have searched the internet for a solution but have not found any. Below is a link to the website:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The problem I am having is with ordered lists in IE. The numbers will not show up, however, they do show up in firefox.That may be due to the fact that Firefox uses a left‐side padding to display list item markers whereas Internet Explorer uses a left‐side margin. If you killed the left‐side margin, then the numbers may not show because Internet Explorer has another bug where the list item markers are not shown when space is not reserved for them; in other words, the markers may not be shown when they stick outside of the list element box. Try giving the list elements padding or margins and see if that helps.

A good rule of thumb, used to sidestep this problem and ensure that you are not unknowingly utilizing browser defaults, is to set all margins and padding to zero for all elements at the beginning of your primary style sheet. You would use a universal selector (asterisk) for that:

* { margin: 0; padding: 0; }
