View Full Version : Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site

Hello all. I am getting the following error intermittently:

Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site ... Operation aborted.

I have a report that opens in a separate window, and this report goes through a recordset to populate multiple timecards. When the error occurs, it will begin to populate the page, then the error occurs, and when I click OK, the page comes up with "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

The thing is that this error doesn't happen all the time. As I said, this is a report that opens up in a separate window, and if it does open correctly, I can refresh the page forever with no problems, but if I close the window and generate the report again, sometimes it works and sometimes I get the error.

Can anyone give any assistance in this issue?

Thanks in advance,

This might sound really patronising, sorry, but - is this the standard Internet Explorer error page? (like this spoof (http://www.coxar.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/))

If so - you on IE6? Go:

Tools -> Internet Options -> "Advanced" tab -> Find "Show friendly HTTP error messages" and make sure it's NOT checked.

IE will then display actual useful error information instead of that page.

That's the thing, it is unchecked. But after that error, the page comes up with "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

I have read many forums (mostly dealing with Google Maps), and have seen many things about making sure your scripts are out of the <Body> section because IE doesn't like it when scripts are trying to insert or change table information before the table is fully loaded. So, needless to say, I had one script at the very end (which only had to do with changing page setup to landscape), so I just moved it outside of the body and so far it seems to be working ok, but only time will tell.

Thanks for your input,

Hi there I am having the same problem,,, and it seems like the problem is IE can't render the page and run the script at the same time.. i have been reading also articles relating to this and there are two ways around it

1: run your JS.. onload...
or add a defer value in your script tag..
