I was wondering if it was possible to stream mp3s from a zipped folder. Like say I have uploaded an album like Jay_z-the_black_album.zip, is there any way i can stream a track from the zip file like 01-intro.mp3? Or maybe the other way around like upload the folder of mp3s and download the folder as a zip? Please let me know thanks

You wont be able to stream the mp3's directly from within a compressed file. You will either have to download the zip as you suggested, or unzip the archives on the server.

Hope it helps

If you have access to something like php, asp, asp.net, jsp, cgi etc you should be able to open the zip in the script and pipe the bytes directly to the output stream.

However, why have you put mp3s in a compressed zip archive in the first place? They will not be very compressed as mp3 is already a compressed format. This is just a waste of processing power to try and compress/decompress them. You would be better off with uncompressed archives or individual files.

yes, a zip file with mp3 shouldn't be any smaller than the mp3 by itself.
