View Full Version : Controlling width and height of pop up

I have a HTML page with a multi-select box containing names and a simple link ("rename") beside it. If a user wants to change one or more names in the select box, he needs to select them and click the "rename" link. This action should open a pop up containing two columns - one containing the non-editable names selected by the user on the opener html and the second column containing a series of text boxes where the user can specifiy new names.
I want the width and height of the pop-up to be self adjusting according to the no. and width in characters of the selected names so that the entire contents of the pop-up completely fit inside the pop-up screen i.e. no scrollbars should be displayed; what is the best way of achieving this?

What browsers do you need to support?
This can be tricky cross-browser.

Also, many firefox users, including myself, disable resizing the window, or even opening a new window at all. My prefs open everything in a new TAB.
