I have a disjointed rollover set up with HTML and CSS only. On the yellow tag labeled Des Moines Design Works I sort of get the effect I am looking for (the text next to the black box place holder), unfortunately I cannot figure out how to keep the text from showing up before the effect. I am looking at the page in IE7. Any ideas?

Hello nhaman,
It's pretty instant here, can't really tell that if the text shows up before the black box.

IE7 and FF2 on a Vista box.

you've got it setup to "do this" when you hover but nothing about what to do when someone doesn't hover.
You define the words on the page as a class with the name text. First off, reserved word, so use text2 or somesuch. In the style section you need to position it, give it a home(much like you did with the rest on the page). That should solve it
