View Full Version : pop out menu to show over flash

I am using the following code to create a popout menu.

How can I get this to always show on top of what's on the page (in this case a flash image)

#catmenu ul{
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
list-style-type: none;
width: 130px; /* Width of Menu Items */
border-bottom: 1px solid #F8F3EE;
border-bottom-color: #F8F3EE;
color: #A75936;

#catmenu ul li{
position: relative;

/*Sub level menu items */
#catmenu ul li ul{
position: absolute;
width: 160px; /*sub menu width*/
top: 0;
visibility: hidden;

/* Sub level menu links style */
#catmenu ul li a{
display: block;
overflow: auto; /*force hasLayout in IE7 */

text-decoration: none;
padding: 1px 5px;
color: #A75936;

#catmenu ul li a:visited{
color: #A75936;

#catmenu ul li a:hover{
background-position: left;

Don't know if you've solved this yet, but since no one else answered, I'd suggest you try adding #catmenu {z-index:100}. Since z-index is an inherited property, all the submenus should pick it up, and thus sit on top of other layers.

I'm not sure how compatible this is with flash, though...

z-index should work if not i have a line of code to add too the flash embed src at home

Its the wmode parameter.

<param name="wmode" value="opaque">
Possible values of wmode are opaque and transparent
transparent allows the flash to be transparent allowing the background of the page to be seen and also allows html elements to go over the flash movie. Opaque just allows html elements to go above the movie.
