View Full Version : CSS Float pushing content down in IE6

This site was supposed to go live tonight until we found out that it breaks in IE6 if you resize the window too small. We have figured out that this is due to the lack of support for min-width in IE6.

Please take a look at this site (http://v2.portlandsoftball.com)in a browser that does not support that property like IE6, and resize the homepage until the content area pops down to the bottom. We need to find a fix for this ASAP! The min width of the entire page should be 930, (we dont mind if they have to scroll to get to the side content.)

Prefferably, i would not like to have to change the layout, or use tables, or anything like that. This site must work in IE6 as stated above, but still work in IE7 and FF2.

Thank you everyone for you help!

This is the only rock solid works in every browser min-width solution for IE that I've been able to find. http://www.cssplay.co.uk/boxes/width.html
Maybe one of the other members here can come up with an expression (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=com.microsoft%3A*&q=min-width+expression) that works but I've never had much luck with them.

for min-width and expressions see: http://www.cameronmoll.com/archives/000892.html

provides a little feedback and the reson why it chokes a lot.

IMO the adoption of most IE users to IE7 has been fast. throwing conditional comments in and feeding IE6 the expression is a life saver. Just FWIW dont forget about about min-hieght. I found out today that the height: 600px; min-height: 1000px chokes IE7.
