Hello again,

I was just wandering if anyone here has submitted sites to dmoz.org before. I submitted a site for review months ago now and it has not appeared in the directory. I was just andering if they are always this slow ??

I have written to them but I didn't receive a reply. I know it might not get submitted it is up to them but this site is 99.999% appropriate to the category I entered it under.

Anyway just wandering if anyone else has experienced this ?

I haven't dmoz.org, however, I have submitted this type of request to two other hosts and I got the same response.. no replies as to adding my site to their dir.
I'm not with either of them anymore......

I haven't even heard of this place, but oddly enough, one of my sites is listed (a small bibliography of rhetoric-related books and articles).

I'll try submitting one of my other sites to see what kind of response I get.

I have submitted two sites to dmoz and have had exactly the same result you describe. Maybe they don't have the resources to review the sites.

I have submitted to dmoz every site I have every been involved with... even friends sites.

Every one has always been listed and listed within a few days. It does take about a month or so for their search to be updated.

I have always submitted to them as after I submitted the first ever site within a few weeks it appeared on every search engine I checked. It is used a great deal to 'feed' a lot of search engines. Google is one of them.

Since then every site has gone in okay and again they all appear in major search engines very very quickly!!!

I do know that they often have problems as they are always looking for editors. I have never had any problems with them. They even emailed me to recommend a different catagory.

I suppose it depends on the catagory really!!

DMOZ/ODP is definitily the directory to be in. You don't have to submit your site to any search engine once you're listed there. But they don't list every site and it may take weeks or months, depending on the editor. They are all volunteers. If it really takes too long, you can always try to submit your site to another catagory.

The site I submitted is now listed (but it doesn't come up when I search for it from the main page).

Look at the bottom of the search results page at DMOZ: "Search database last updated on: Sat Sep 28 00:54:00 PDT 2002"..
