View Full Version : CSS Background problem. Good in IE7 and FF...

I can't figure out how Firefox and IE7 display backgrounds differently than IE6. I am designing a profile for a friends day spa company and Everything works well in IE7 and FF but for some reason the background in IE6 won't say fixed and is out of place.

unfortunately the code is horribly myspace ugly (the ******* child of geocities) but if anyone might be able to offer any advice i'd appreciate it. Thanks!

My body background css is:

body
{
font-size: 1px;
line-height: 1px;
font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif;
background: url(http://norcaldesigns.com/myspace/bg.jpg) no-repeat fixed;
}

and the container div that puts the background over the content is:

.container
{
position:absolute;
background: url(http://norcaldesigns.com/myspace/bg.jpg) no-repeat fixed;
top:0;
left: 50%;
height:10000px;
z-index:5;
margin-left:-500px;
}

ever think of closing the image locations in these: ' ' or these: " "?

That's because fixed background attachment unfortunately (http://www.webdevout.net/browser_support_css.php#support-css2propsbasic-backgroundattachment) only works on the body element in IE6.

@hurloon. Ahh yes i have had to use code i've found in order to try and tame the myspace beast, so i haven't gone up to look at good markup yet. Is one better than the other though? I have always juse used the quotes "".

@koyama: Thanks. Though that really sucks for myspace design... (If you can call anything on myspace 'designed'). I will have to figure out a workaround until everyone switches over to IE7 or Firefox.

Is there anyway to remove my website link in the original post? (there is no more edit button as too much time has passed)

Thanks,
