Unsure where to post this, might be in the wrong forum so feel free to move it to the right one :) Trying to setup mysql5 to run with apache 2 and php5 and having very little luck. I've followed instructions from many sites and yet it still isn't being recognised when using the php functions to connect to the db. mysql runs fine on it's own as I've been using it. I've downloaded the *.dlls from mysql and installed them in the correct dir's, uncommented the mysql dll in php.ini and restarted apache. Also tried restarting the pc Any help please? I'm stuck without this

Getting any actual error messages, either in the server log or output directly to the browser?

Some possible causes are - extensions path to the dll's is not set in the php.ini; the php.ini that php is using is not the same one you are making changes in; an auxiliary .dll file cannot be found...

I'm getting no server errors, it's just not trying to load it when apache is restarted. PHP's error is just that mysql_connect is undefined. Never usually have problems setting this up, but I'm struggling today for some reason

Finally sorted it tonight. No idea what I'd done wrong, but basically reinstalled everything, reused the recommended php ini to replace the one I had used and everything is working fine now. Still no idea what I'd done wrong or differently from all the other times
