View Full Version : drop down menu disappears in IE

Jan 12th, 2007, 11:32 PM
I have a site: http://www.sunelectricsystems.com/

I have verified the code according to: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

The drop down menu works in Firefox, but randomly disappears in IE. I have tried to implement some of the fixes I found on this board, but none work.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What exactly is it doing in IE? I checked it in both browsers and the behavior looks the same. Also, please include the css file for the drop down menu.

There is also a little java script:

The menu will dissapear if you move the mouse too fast, or if you go to the second drop down item after the first, or if you are not exactly over the text of the menu item, or just sometimes for no apparent reason, the drop-down menu flashes off.

Your might be experiencing the peekaboo bug.

Good luck.

I have tried to apply the Holly Hack to fix a suspected peekaboo bug. I have tried applying it directly to the #nav, to all the various <ul> code of the #nav, to my #nav-top box, and everywhere else I can think of. Nothing seems to work.

I just read an article that said the Holly Hack will not work in IE7, but gave no solution. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have found a solution to the IE Holly Hack problem via http://weblogs.asp.net/jgalloway/archive/2006/03/27/441149.aspx

Put the conditional comment:
<!--[if lte IE 7]>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../iestyles.css" />

in the <head> and {zoom:1;} in the new stylesheet.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction
