View Full Version : Page loading way

Hello, I run www.realmhistory.net and I have a little problem with the page loading order.

As you can notice there is a column on left with the menu, a column in middle with the content, and a column on right with a banner. Above them there is a row with the logo.

Loading order is: logo from top, menu column, content column (here is the problem, it gets aligned in the right position -only after- the whole column it's loaded) and then the banner.

So middle column has a right-down position while loading, and it looks really awful. After it's loaded it just jumps to the intended positon.

How can I fix this please?

I really wouldn't worry about it. It loaded fine for me the first time, no content jumping or anything. Users really aren't going to care either. I would like to add that I went to your page with Javascript disabled and the link you gave saying how to enable javascript is incorrect. Java and Javascript are two entirely different coding languages.

There is barely any way you could fix this. Page loading order is completly determined by the web browser and different browsers handle page loading in different ways. People that browse the web have generally come to accept this - I would not worry about it too much.

Hello FaithRaven,
Those guys are right, the speed things are loaded is out of your hands...
You might be able to get things to load in the order you want, google "source ordered columns" -I've never tried it so I have no idea what they are about.

You can prevent things from jumping around like that though.
As your page loads, different divs move around as things get loaded into them. If the size of the image that's in there is specified then the div will be sized to fit it, instead of expanding when the pic gets there. Does that make sense?
