View Full Version : Spacing problem in Firefox

Dec 4th, 2006, 07:02 AM
Hello all,

I am having an issue with Firefox on the page http://www.soldbyrandyholman.com

There is a blank space right above the buttons :confused:. I have tried using divs and a table layout and neither seem to work. I have tried using 0 margin and 0 padding on all of the elements that I could think of. I am not having this issue in IE6. If anybody could assist me it would be much appreciated.

Hello taris_kah,
It looks like you have a div called #header but no styling for it. Add
#header {
height: 266px;
width: 800px;
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
} to your CSS and see if that doesn't help.

Thanks Excavator,

One step closer. That did fix it in FireFox and now I feel a bit silly that I missed that :). Now however, once I set any height for the header div the white space starts appearing in IE :confused:. Any way to hack this in IE?

I'm running into a lot of things that only people with IE6 can see. I can see I'm going to have to look into running both versions 6 and 7.

It looks fine here on Vista with FF2 and IE7

If you get IE6 installed and find anything let me know. Since I added the CSS attributes to the header div it always has that space in IE6 even if I go back and delete the attributes. Kind of screwy, what do you expect from IE6 though :(.

Hi again taris-kah,
I have IE6 on my wifes XP box so I took a quick peak over there... it looks like when you take the line
background: #fbfbfb url(../images/inner_grad.png) repeat-x top; out of <div id="nav"> your white space disapears.
I didn't mess around with it much but you should be able to style the nav img with text-decoration: none; or margin/padding 0 ... something like that will get rid of the space and let you keep the .png
