I am having a problem with my CSS layout, where the menu appears fine in firefox, but the menu buttons come out vertically in IE (its supposed to be a horizontal menu)

The following link provides screenshots and code to clarify the problem:

If you could provide any assistance, it would be greatly appreciated. I have been trying to fix this for weeks and it is the final thing that is holding me back from putting the site online.

We can't help without seeing code.

I would suggest not using tables for menus. Try this instead:

<style type="text/css">
#top-menu
{
list-style-type: none;
margin: 0 auto;
padding: 0;
}
#top-menu li
{
display: inline;
}
</style>

I'm not sure about IE compatibility, but the code is better that way...
