View Full Version : I'm brand new to the whole sessions thing/PHP and...

...Your probably going to think it's hopeless to even try to teach me/help me with learning it, but you gotta start somewhere.. and I was just wondering if there are any topics that exist within this forum or anywhere on the internet that can help me begin.. Sorta like PHP for dummies, that sort of thing. And if not, is there any possible way to receive help? I know absolutely nothing about PHP or even how to create a login form. So, I'm sorta desperate.

Please answer. I've been trying to find a complete beginners guide, but I can't seem to find anything. And I really want to learn how to create a session and such.

The first stop should be the programming language reference manual from the PHP web site -

On line versions - http://www.php.net/docs.php

Downloadable versions - http://www.php.net/download-docs.php

The manual has a Getting Started section. Also, here is a link to a nice starting tutorial - http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp

The session handling section in the manual contains working code examples (the manual in fact contains working code examples for most of the PHP functions) -

Sessions in general - http://www.php.net/session

Session start with code to set variables on one page and access them on a second page - http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.session-start.php
