View Full Version : Windows IE6 Bug, Looks fine otherwise....

Hi All! I am new to CSS and am updating my work website, thinking it would be a good way to learn.

I have tested this site in Macintosh OS X Firefox 1, Safari, and Mac IE and the site looks fine. In Windows XP IE7 the site looks fine, but in Windows IE6 there is one bug.

The text in the center (that starts with the “Custom Shirt FAQ” blah, blah, blah…) shifts down and begins about parallel to the bottom left pad (right below the info about our Myspace page is). The odd thing is sometimes when I view the site (like at home in Windows IE6) the site looks fine for a second and then the text jumps down, parallel to the Myspace info.

My two questions are...

1. What is causing this problem?

2. How can I fix this problem? Is there a solution that will make it work on all platforms/browsers, or is it something where I will have to write some Windows IE6 hack?

Thanks for your time and patience!

PS.. I know it does not validate fully. I am trying to work on that, but want to figure this issue out first. The other bummer is I don't have access to a Windows machine running IE 6 at work, so I have to go home and work on it.

Validation is the key to fixing most problems however in this case it doesn't. The combination of margin-left and width on centercontent causes it to drop in IE. Get rid of the left margin and just float the centercontent to the left. You should read the link in my sig titled "Why Tables for Layout is Stupid?".
