I have a variety of shops that I think are being penalised by google for basically being the same duplicate content. This is because they are all fed from XML same source.
I have a theory of using the canonical URL tag for at least some of the key categories/products so that e main shop receives no duplicated penalty.
Can anyone think how I would do this? Would I have to add a new line specifying the canonical address and then some code to the site to interpret that fed data.
OR... could I just place some code on the site that dynamically takes the URL currently in the browser, copies it, strips out the root shop domain, replaces it with a desired one held in a variable, and then generates and laces this into a canonical link tag on the fly?
Sorry im all theory and not a great programmer.
