    Question Excel Type in XML Schema?

    I use an XML schema (xsd's) for my webservices. But for the response on one of my webservices, i would like to send back an Excel document/object for the browser/client to download.

    Is this possible? Is there an Excel Type for an XML schema?

    what do you mean by "Excel Type for a XML schema"?
    or you ask about mime type?

    mime type is application/vnd.ms-excel

    a schema type.
    normal schema:
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    <xsd:element name="me" type="xsd:string"/>
    </xsd:schema>

    something i'm looking for:
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    <xsd:element name="myexcelfile" type="xsd:excelFile"/>
    </xsd:schema>

    i know it wouldn't come from that xml namespace but that's the question. can something like that exist? is there a namespace that does this?

    I don't know, export a excel spreasheet as xml and look inside to see what namespace use. As far as I can guess, ms probably use some urn for this.

    Alright, i think i may have found what i am looking for.
    http://cwiki.apache.org/CXF20DOC/mto...with-jaxb.html

    i did look at the excel spreadsheet xml but it only told me the fields and how to construct it. the problem i have is that i have a multpart in my schema that could occur multiple times, in the worst case, in the 100,000's. So instead of transporting all 100,000 in the schema, i would rather build the excel spreadsheet in the service and send that back.

    now, i have to find out how large a 100,000 line excel spreadsheet will be. oh boy.
