    Offline XML/XHTML validation

    Any ideas where I could get an XML and XHTML validator I can run from a local network server, rather than it being on the internet - so that I can validate pages without having to upload them

    I don't mind buying software, with the exception of XML Spy (way too expensive for what it is);

    Any thoughts?

    The latest version of HTML-Kit has a fairly decent XHTML validator as a plugin (as part of HTML Tidy).

    i don't know if that comment means you don't like XML Spy or just don't think its worth the money, just to let you know theres a free enterprise version for 30 days then reverts to the home version.

    But then again i also have html-kit and that would do the jopb as catman says and its free.

    Yeah I mean I don't think it's worth the money. It is very cool, but I can't really justify the cost for what it does.

    Anyway, I'll try out html-kit for XHTML; maybe I could write an XML validator myself ...(!)

    Thanks for that - it certainly is more reasonably priced.

    But in both cases ... I particularly don't want a new development environment; don't need built-in transformation, DTD-Schema conversion, or anything like that; that's why I'm reluctant to spend the money when 90% of its features are redundant.

    I just want a validator - like something in the context menu I just right-click and go "Validate this file"

    hey brothercake take a look at this :-

    http://www.htmlhelp.com/tools/valida...changelog.html

    or this

    http://ktmatu.com/info/do-it-yoursel...tml-validator/

    both r offline html validators, i don't think the second one goes any further than html 4 which is a real shame but it does allow right click "send to validator" thing. The first one might be promising.

    *edit* actually just notice the second one has an add one or something for XTHML, might be worth a look.
