    New project advice

Hi everyone, I am going to have a VERY large project coming up in the future (very expensive) and need to investigate how I'm going to go about doing it. In my opinion the concept a great one, and is something that no one is doing at the moment.

I need some advice on what language is going to be used and how we can go about setting the engine/software up, and how much it is likely to cost. The thing is, I obviously don't want someone stealing the idea.

Is there any way of getting advice/ a consultation without having someone rip off your idea?!!

Obviously the best way is to use someone you know to be trustworthy, such as a relative or friend. (But not every relative and friend is trustworthy-- hard lessons learned!) It's not always feasible of course. So your next best thing (I suppose) is to contract someone for consultant work and require they sign a non-disclosure agreement. Google the term and you'll find plenty of templates and examples. Get a hard-copy of this agreement signed.

You still may suffer theft of your intellectual property, unfortunately, because the smart thiefs know how expensive it is to hire a team of attorneys to go after someone who has violated an NDA, so it's still a gamble.

One piece of advice: develop your idea as much as you can before sharing it. If you can get a prototype going, others will be less likely to see the idea as free for the taking. You'll also refine the idea and make it tangible.

Oh and reserve domain names fast

I think that's good advice - especially with the non-disclosure forum.

I would love to get some advice from a coder but they're going to have to be the best of the best because this is going to be some pretty hardcore stuff. Just wish I had a friend that was really good so I could ask them!
