So, the situation is this:
I work for a cell phone retailer that accepts trade-in for used phones. The system that we use to process the trade-ins to be shipped out is a web page that can be VERY frustrating to use. It is literally just a table that has the information from the devices, the unique trade in ID, and a checkbox to indicate that the phone is going to be included in the shipment. It is REALLY easy to miss a phone, then the company loses money and I get in trouble for it. I am not the only one that has had issues with this because we are only given a 10 minute window before the connection times out and we have to start all over again, so we are forced to rush through the pile of papers in order to get it all done in time.
So, what I need is this:
Each ticket already has a barcode generated to the unique trade-in ID, and we have a barcode scanner that includes an "Enter" keystroke after every scan.
I need a script or program of some sort that can take an input, search a web page for that input after an "Enter" keystroke, toggle the state of a checkbox at the front of the table row, then wait for the next input.
This can be set up as a browser plugin for Chrome or Firefox if that would make it easier to execute.
Also, I would need the source code in order to submit that to my superiors so that they can verify that it is acceptable for use on internal systems (id est, can't store any data from the computer or web page for any reason, it must flush the input immediately after it is finished searching)
If you have any questions for me, just ask. I will be checking back often.
