Im looking for some advice. I wonder if anyone on this forum can help.
I want to design a win32 computer program for analysing and manipulating very large datasets of chemical data, involving entering and filtering data in spread sheets (with the ability to open xls, txt files), visualisation of the data in 2d (scatter plots ,histograms, etc) statistical analysis and seperation of the dataset into smaller files which can be converted into other formats for use with other software.
Thing is I have no knowlege of computer programming. I have been doing similar work up to now using excel spreadsheets, but its not exactly user friendly and Ive taken it as far as I can go.
The questions I want to ask are:
How should I go about getting a freelance programmer to make a program for me?
Is there any set way which I can explain how I want the program designed - ie I know all the equations, and how I want things to work, but can imagine it might be difficult to explain to someone without working on it together. How is computer software which is already designed presented to computer programmers for coding?

You can do it using C and Matlab.
