    In need of PHP coder

    1) Project Details: (be as specific as possible):
Essentially, without giving off any key details, it is going to be a... CMS, per se. Member system, PM system, etc. And the main thing will be sort of a blogging system, submitting articles. It would consist of user profiles, main page news, comments, private messaging, and our main idea is for users to submit content of their own and having it categorized.

    2) Payment Amount:
    $50-100
    3) Payment method/ details (Paypal, check? Timeline?):
    Paypal
    4) Additional Info (about project or potential bidders):

It is a fairly large project, so you wouldn't be doing it alone. You need to be dedicated and have solid experience. If you are seriously interested, PM me and I can give you more details. Thanks.

    $50-$100 for a self-described "large project" ... is that a joke ?

If you aren't interested, I'd rather you not reply to my thread with useless comments. Thank you. This is for serious considerations only.

I'm giving you a helpful hint, if you want a competent programmer for a large project then offering $50 is nothing more than a joke.

I don't really think so. $100 is more than enough considering you will have 1-2 others helping you. We have a low budget and are just wondering if anyone is willing to help us for a small price or not.

Good luck. We are just saying that a decent php programmer ranges in the cost of 40-60 US dollars PER hour, some times more.

Use some open-source CMS. Making CMS for 50$ - it is like working a month for free.
Or is it 50$ per hour?

Gotta say, I agree with all the follow-ups on this one. You seem to be looking for an experienced programmer to take on a fairly large and complicated project for what amounts to less than minimum wage (at least in the US).

Would you ask a plumber to install all the plumbing in your house for $50? Or a lawyer to defend you for $50 in a murder case?

If you want a serious and competent programmer, you're going to have to pay a serious market rate.

I work with a lot of programmers that charge far more than $50 / hour. And they're worth every penny because they know how to properly design and build a system.

I can understand where you guys are coming from and you are all completely right. We just can't afford to pay that much for a coder. I don't really need a professional per se, which I think is what would have been thought after reading my first post. Someone who does it as a hobby is fine. But they must be fluent with it. I thought $20/hour was a good amount, something I can handle if it's quality work but as I found out I am wrong.
Anyways, we have a very good idea. My friend who will be assisting you has already started the site. He is coding all the JS, HTML, CSS, ect. Just needs some help with the PHP. We have a great design team and it is coming along nicely.

What I really should be asking for is anyone who wants the experience of working on building a website, and wouldn't mind working for a low budget. Sorry for the confusion.

Also, I meant $100-150 still low I know.

I have gotten a few PM's from a couple really nice guys whom I will be contacting and seeing if they are right for the job, so thank you. =D

    1) $20/hour is mediocre for a full time position and bad for freelance

    2) This will take more than 5 hours

    3) Good luck bud

Could anyone give me an estimate on how many hours it would take? I could get more $$$ if needed, which seems to be the real issue here. =/

Based on the vague description I would charge ~$1500 and would estimate this job at 30 hours.

Don't worry too much about Andrew J, he seems to delight in crushing people's dreams.

Sounds like what you really want is someone who would like to build their porfolio, get some coding experience, learn a few things along the way, and help out your project at the same time. Sounds more appropriate for the Project Collaboration forum. Though I do think you'll have a harder time finding someone willing to put in the time it'll take to put it all together... you'll need to find someone who takes a keen interest in the content and topic of your website, I imagine.

Didn't even know this forum offered a board like that, I will have to go look. But yea, that makes the most sense. And, thats basically what I wanted. So, people read his post. He seems to know what I want more than I do haha.
Surprisingly, I already found 3 people who are willing to work for $200. Not experts obviously, but I don't need one.
