    Please critique my wip website?

This site is meant to be minimalistic and and simple while using some CSS3.

I'm going to use this site to display my upcoming game. It is still a work in progress, so I'm very interested in knowing what others think about it.

There's a few CSS3 tricks you cannot see. For instance, when the browser loads, the navigation will light up and "wave" across. Also, each link in the navigation is a different color. I wanted to use 3 colors for this site.

(Don't have a live site yet.. Working on it offline.)

What font are you using for the paragraph text?

Are you using a background image for the header divs?

    Regards,

    LC.

    Yes.

and I'm using Segoe UI Light, which I think I may have to get a license for to use. So I'll probably take it out. Looking for more "thin" fonts.

What did you think of the site itself?

I do really like it to be honest. I like the links at the top of the page with the rectangle shape above them.

For my own personal preference, I'd probably make the containing div a little wider.

    Regards,

    LC.

How do you feel about the noise in the headers and background? Too much? Would it be better as a solid color?

(Also, does this version look better? http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/2743/webipp2.png)

I prefer the 1st one because of the container div is actually centered on the page.

I also like the second one because the divs for 'news/updates', 'project dream cloud' are separated/have space between them.

Regarding the background images, i'd keep them. I think they add a nice subtle effect to the page.

Please note this is only my opinion. I think you could have a nicely designed site there once you build it up a bit more.

    Regards,

    LC.

The second one is still centered like the other, I just copied the screenshot differently, haha.

    So second or first one?

Will the images take awhile to load for slower Internet speeds or is it nothing to worry about?

Any recommendations or ideas you can give me? :P

I prefer the second one then :P

I guess it depends on the image size and type I suppose. I am presuming it is a tiny png or jpg which you have repeated as the div background?

I don't think you should be concerned with how fast it loads. If you are just having a very basic page I don't think it's anything to worry about.

I have a site at the moment which has an image as the main background, with also a 'galleries' page which uses prettyPhoto and a contact page with php stuff on and it loads very quickly for me, near enough instantly.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,

    LC.

    Oooh, can I see?

and is there anything else you want to recommend to me?

I've been thinking about installing a content slider.. Although I don't know of a good one I can customize myself.

    My site is located here:

    http://www.abjava.host22.com/Gardenable/index.htm. Still not finished yet..

I can't really advise no more, I really struggle with layout etc when it comes to designing a site (As you will see once you look at my link)^.

Maybe someone else could add some opinion?

    Good luck

    Regards,

    LC.
