    Post First webpage, self taught.

    Hi

So a friend asked me to put together a website for his new Sports Management company. I have had very little experience with Dreamweaver and general web building, but I'm eager to learn as I've always found the area interesting. I felt this would be a good way for me to jump into the world of web design, and hopefully get my work out there for more potential clients to see in the future. I have studied Graphic Design for a couple of years and so I've got some Photoshop knowledge.

The site isn't finished yet, so it's simply hosted on my Dropbox here:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14412015/index.html

Bear in mind the PHP doesn't work on Dropbox so the RSS feed section isn't functioning at the moment. One issue I have noticed is that on the Home and About pages, the navbar seems to have moved - all the other pages are fine. I've been wrestling with this on-and-off for days, it's driving me insane. If anyone can figure out why this is happening I'd be very grateful.

One last thing - the content is all just example content at the minute! I will be typing the bulk up later this week.

    Thanks for any feedback.

Well...the first impression is pretty good. It's quite simple, clean and not overloaded with unnecessary things and ads. my main suggestions will cover text font, which is too small and hard to read. Make it a bit darker as well. The next point is about header and footer.
Header should be much more catchy I think, and there is no footer at all...so try to alter these concers.
    Wish you luck (:

Thanks a lot for the input, I'll take it on board and continue work! Do you have any ideas with regard to the navigation bar moving on the Home and About pages? Also, I would like to position the 'Latest News' portion on the right hand side of the page, as to make the whole thing a bit more symmetrical. Do you have any tips on how to create a fixed sidebar on the right hand side in which to place the latest news?

    Thanks a lot

There are no tables in this document.

The gap between the left sidebar and the content is massive and makes everything else appear off-centre.

You need a footer: it marks a definite end to a page.

You are using HTML 5 but are not actually using any of its elements. Use HTML 4.01 instead.

Otherwise, very good first attempt. (:

Thanks a lot for the help.

The CSS can be found here:

It's very, very messy I know, I really need to sort it out.

If somebody could take a look and figure out why the right hand sidebar is misbehaving I'd be massively grateful.

    Kind Regards

The reason for the misbehaving may be here: http://validator.w3.org/check?charse...015/index.html
