    Need advice on my layout

Please refrain from saying it looks horrible and child-like. I need serious advice and helpful comments. This is going to be a business website.

Also I am using one of my current domains to host it, until I purchase the new one for it.

    Hello.

I'm more a sysadmin with functional html/css abilities - so I can't help you out much on design and layout critique. But I noticed this is for a sign shop in Charlottesville and I'm just up a ways in Harrisonburg - so thought I'd say hi

The only thing I did notice - and this may be known to you as it's a work in progress - is that the estimates page didn't have a submit button.

    Hope it goes well,

    Hi,

You'll have to check out the shop some time when it's open. We're planning on opening May 1st.

I still have much to add to the estimate page, the button will be the last thing added.

But the problem is on the pages, there is no border, no box, it's just random DIVs floating around. So wasn't sure what to do. I would like to do a red, white, blue theme tho.

Ok, the idea of your website is really great! I like it. But you for sure have to change its outlook, cuz it look unprofessional and as if it was made in haste. So, probably you need, first of all, to download some cool template according to main idea of ur webpage. Try to make body of home page larger, fill it up with good creative content, also you may add one or two pics. And I dont really like those highlighted with red color letters. You may order a really cool header for you site, and in it you should place you logo. Remember that homepage, outlook of your header and logo will make first and probably the last impression about ur company and service you provide, so you should devote most of your time to it. As for me, I can advice you to go through this link http://www.********************/products_new.html Here you may find different kinds of templates, maybe you will find smth suitable for you. In anyway wish you best of luck! If there are any questions - feel free to ask

    Best regards

Thanks for the comments. I am using a template, those are very nice but looking to do it on my own and not purchase one.

I want to go with a American Flag design, but not sure how to go about it without making a huge long loading image for the background.

I agree I haven't put much work into it, I ran out of ideas which is why I posted on here. The animated banner is a test, I am actually going to redo it after I open the shop and put 7 or 8 images on it, showing all aspects of what we do.

I will try to dress it up a little more and see if you think I am going in the right direction. Thanks

A bunch of divs floating around is pretty much how it goes these days

Anyway I'd say the site is utilitarian, meaning it gets the job done but doesn't go beyond that. What kind of advice I give really depends on what kind of look you're going for. Do you want to hit the user with flair, or make it really easy to get to the content? Sometimes you can do both (not often though). In my opinion, since the business is all about advertising, you really need to make the site jump out with a mess o' glossy graphics.

I usually browse through template websites when I need inspiration. (It rarely works )

For some specific comments, the gray text should be darker to give more contrast. The menu shouldn't jiggle when you mouseover it. And I really hate Flash, so don't ask me to evaluate your flash header. (You can use jQuery to fade images in and out in a slideshow format and then you don't need flash at all!)

    Alright I made these changes:

    - I darkened the text
    - Stopped the overlay from jumping
    - Added a transparent american flag background

    Looking better?

"Popular Services". It looks like the entries underneath are links. It might be best to actually make them so and link to an information page giving a bit of indepth info on each product. One thing the site is dreadfully lacking, at the moment, is information regarding the available products. You mention what they are, but give no indepth info on any.

One other point I would personally suggest is to remove all shorthand English. I'm guessing your target audience is mainly native American's, but translators don't always, ("don't" instead of "do not" being a prime example), interpret apostrophes in their proper context.

I'm not a fan of pictures in backgrounds... sorry. Makes it look 1998ish.

I can't really give advice on writing style because I'm not culturally aware of your position. Here in the UK, starting off with "We believe in helping the UK" would immediately flag you as some sort of strange nationalist because it's simply not relevant.

The U.S.A is a tad more protectionist than we are though, especially of late, from what I gather. It seems to be becoming quite a commonplace, (and acceptable over there), practice.

Yeah the USA is much difference, we have millions of people who love our company and only buy products made in USA. Also they are extremely upset with buying from China and giving our money to other countries instead of our own businesses.

Yeah, that is true about some of americans and I like it) So, keep doing your project, cuz as far as I understand you know your targeted group of people and you know what they need, so I'm sure, in close future you will succeed.

    Best of luck!
