    What am I missing?

I came here for a little constructive criticism. Hoping that I can get a few opinions on my new web site. It is a work in progress, and I am getting a nice flow of people coming, but would like to know how I can get more people to participate. Anyone? Thanks!!!

There was a pic of a fat, naked guy in a box - that's enough to keep me away forever. Besides that, craigslist has already been done.

Why is stuff moving? No, honestly.

What I don't like is the "Home", "Post Ad" and "Post Image" areas are blue when your dominant color is pink.

In response to "There was a pic of a fat, naked guy in a box - that's enough to keep me away forever. Besides that, craigslist has already been done." For one, this can not be compared to Craigslist. It is so much more fun! The pic of the "fat naked guy was posted by a visitor". It was a humorous little pic, for people with a sense of humor, and an open mind. A person with little, to no sense of humor would find that somewhat offensive. I guess we know what category that you fall under. Not that it's a bad thing, but constructive criticism from you on this web site, is like asking the pope if he enjoys the free porn on my site. But thanks anyway...

I honestly don't know what you see moving. Unless it is the very small bunny's on the top. This should not be distracting, at all, unless you smoked a few bones, or dropped some acid. As far as the "Blue" font on the three things that you mention, there are a lot of "blue font" on the home page. Pink may be my dominant color, but too much would be ...well, too much. Don't you think?

But thank you , too, for your time and input.

I love the pope/porn analogy, but I have to disagree with the fat guy being "humorous." I, personally, found it hilarious (sort of conflicting, I know, but read on), but most others will not. Also, the whole point of your site is to allow people to post to the classifieds, not to post potentially-offensive pictures. I believe your site can be heavily compared to Craigslist because the functions are the same. I don't find anything that makes your site fun, except for the occasional explicit pic now and then.

I also don't find the moving-bunny at the top as a distraction. I would recommend keeping the pink to a minimum, meaning leave it out of your logo, and making it fit the blue color scheme.

I should also add that you don't sound too open for criticism. You requested constructive criticism, yet you attack each effort to help further your web site.

Now that's offensive. True, I'm only 2 bones in for the whole day (and I gave up acid years ago) and I think the bunny's cool. I just couldn't understand what he was saying - he talks too fast.

But seriously, the movement I saw was really everything. Besides my buddy the bunny, there was a movie playing in the left column and the right column was resizing itself while the content was loading.

I didn't mean the blue type, I meant the blue background. It looks odd.

When I checked, there was the moving bunny, some random eye in the top corner and another animation of...well, let's say it's not something I wanted to see. Animated GIFs are generally considered bad design practice, and are incredibly inaccessible for people with certain mental disorders. The W3C has more information.

Also, normally, it's not clever or funny to imply a mod is on drugs, is it?

Yes, I did come here asking for "constructive criticism" . Which is not what I got. Constructive criticism is " the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive AND negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one." I didn't "attack" each effort. In fact, it was the other way around. They did not use "constructive criticism" but only picked out the negative ,(in their opinion, not mine).

So, you want some constructive criticism? OK, you asked for it:

Ged rid of the animated image(s) at the top. Seriously. And this is as constructive as I can be. I’m currently looking at a pink bunny that is jumping around like it had really smoked a few bones, dropped some acid, sniffed a line, and took a shot with a syringe full of heroine at the same time. And you say this shouldn’t be distracting? That’s the first thing people notice and most likely also one of the last things for many visitors.

I don’t quite know where to start (and be construtive at the same time) …

In order to draw more visitors your site has to look professional, I’d say. Animated GIFs are the complete opposite because they are commonly regarded as a sign for amateurs with bad taste having a website. A professional website has a well-thought-out color scheme and page structure (meaning arrangement of sections on the page).

Your color scheme is OK (although not making the impression of being well-thought-out) but on a professional website colors, shapes, effect, and animations are used wisely to draw attention to a certain item. The only attention you draw at the moment is attention to the bunny on PCP. The rest is pretty equal in importance (visually) and pretty cluttered (as opposed to well-structured).

I think the icons in the middle are OK, and you could build on that. But I could write a never ending review if I would adress every issue on your site in a constructive manner. So, in order to save that time I suggest you study http://webdesignfromscratch.com/basics/ and http://webdesignfromscratch.com/web-...tyle-guide.php extensively (including all related articles)! These tutorials explain all you need for a beautiful and successful website.

Now THAT, is what I call "constructive criticism", and what I was asking for. Thank YOU!

Kill the animated junk, and pretend adults want to sell their stuff for real.

Also, in your footer you have a great little 3 step image on how easy it is to use your site. That should be on the top if you want more postings.
