    Post Site review, please.

    Serious review needed.
    I had a website re-developed from a co.za to a org.za site

Please give me valid and useful feedback on the org.za site, the good, the bad and the ugly.

    First timer...
Run some tests and currently working on cleaning up the validation issues.
Found a couple of free sites that help with keywords, description and so on... Some of them were harsh! others very useful.

    Cheers

I like the tabs, but the highlighting of the current one should carry across the page. When I see the green, it makes the home look like it is behind the "current" page rather than the current page.

The white on light blue on the bottom is hard to read.

Nice... good readability, looks professional. One suggestion would be on the tabs that require a log in, instead of just prompting for login info, put a little message "That feature requires that you log in. If you are not yet registered, click on "register now". It's fast free and easy!" or whatever.

When I click on a topic on the Lost and Found page, something disasterous happens to my screen-- I couldn't really tell what it was because I went into seizures at that moment, but I think the background started pulsating and wouldn't stop until I clicked anywhere on the page. Yeah... a fun effect, but really really horrible in reality. I wouldn't grey out the page either; at the very most I would just make the div's background a pale yellow (#ccccf0) which goes away when you mouse over the div or click anywhere.

Also any of the link exchange links breaks the CSS of the page.

Sounds cool, will try and implement it.

It's supposed to scroll to the area on the page, I see what you mean, just resized the screen to 800x600.
Thanks, will have to fix that one.

This page has no CSS styling:

Funny thing about that, you are the second person to tell me that this page looks blank.
It was suggested by my chick, that I add a tag cloud or a few categories like on the URL removed by user request page

    Thanks, will do it.

What about the speed? Does it load quick enough?

It's more than blank; it's unformatted. See attachment (assuming I can attach the image).

    Wow that's bad?
I don't see that in the image.

It's fine here, FF and IE7, cleared TEMP and CACHE - right now.

    Edit:
Sure there isn't a tool or something that disables scripts or CSS on your browser?
If I disable linked stylesheets (inside web developer toolbar in FF) I get the same image as you posted.
    See attached...

    Hope it looks better.

What about the speed? I fear I may have to redo alot of this site, maybe even dump some neat features.

    Cheers

It might be the CSS file is blocked at my work place but I can browse directly to this file:

    URL removed by user request

And I can see it just fine. So... *shrug*

    On home page it's
    <link href="css/BrightSide.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    where as on the other
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style/BrightSide.css" type="text/css" />
Are they supposed to use different stylesheets?

Yes each section has it's own folder... ie; own but similar stylesheet.

On a totally different point; SPEED!
I tested it with a Web Page Analyzer and it says:
    15 HTTP Requests
I also tested it with Firebug and it says:
    55 requests 247 KB (0 b from cache) 18.49s
Without the slide show script it says:
    15 requests 69 KB (0 b from cache) 5.74s

I then tested a different slide show and it says:
    40 requests 200 KB (0 b from cache) 6.3s //Major difference in load time.
I haven't had time to implement all the needed changes just yet, but will soon.

Wouldn't it be easier to maintain 1 stylesheet and use body IDs?
It cuts down on HTTP requests, which on faster connections take longer than the actual download, and allows caching.

I am no genius at CSS, how does that work?
