    Rsspberry - Need your feedback.

    Hi,

I created the new version of my site Rsspberry, a few weeks ago. It's written in PHP, HTML, JavaScript, XML and CSS. Just looking for feedback really, is the site easy to use, is it ascetically pleasing etc...

The site is located over at: http://rsspberry.com/

    What does it do?
Rsspberry is a site that allows you to view the latest content from various websites around the web, vote on your favorites, comment on sites and subscribe to them, via email or web. More sites can be submitted to the network by the users, and if the sites pass moderation they will be added. They then can be voted, commented, etc... on.

Just really looking for your your opinions on the site.

    Thanks,
    ~ Christian

Well, I dozed off waiting for your page to load - seriously. when I came round, I found that both your 'technology' pages show the same content/list.

I will work on making the site load faster, and the pagination on the "Technology" pages seem to not be working. I will get a fix for that.

The site should be loading a lot faster now, I had accidentally uploaded the uncompressed version of the images, that fixed now. Working on the fix of the pagination.

    Please do not double post.

Header has a lot of wasted space, OH nevermind - I just had adblock turned on.

I am on a 2 meg broadband connection. At 14 secons the page goes from the browser default grey to white and at 22 secs, the page actually loads in an instant.

Not sure why that would be.

    Also, by way of suggestion:

    1. I like the header and menu part - clean and crisp.

    2. Top stories seems ok in terms of structure but, I would use colours that blend with the header and menu some way rather than default blue.

    3. Latest: seems like a list with all items bunched. No clear definition between each. I would consider a small header for each or to make the link be the header, with different attributes, to make each stand out more. I suppose what I am saying is, there is nothing tin each list item to draw my eye so it's just one big bunch of text.

    4. I would get rid of the default link colour anyway.

    5. top 10: get rid of the default link colour and perhaps make each link a smaller text size?

Apart from that, the overall structure appeals because it is a familiar layout and everything is where it 'ought' to be. (based on so many other layouts)

overall fwiw, I think it's OK. (But who am I to criticise when I can't design a designed thing. lol)

Site loads fine for me, the nav could do with some sort of hover state, and I also would like to see a tad more branding within the site (i.e. Icons for 'ripes' and possibly even a logo?!)

    Cheers

I agree, your site has very little identity. There's no logo or favicon or anything. I've no real sense of who you are.

I agree with most of the opinions stated already. I think you do need a logo of some description. Also, the banner ad is way, way too distracting. Are you forced to have that on there by your host or is that a money making thing? I think you should look into removing it or at least replacing it with a less intrusive advert.
