review - more to life 08

    Hi,

    The address is http://www.moretolife08.org.uk/index.php

I'm in the process of making this website for a local organization. Any comments and suggestions on how to improve it are greatly appreciated. (bear in mind it's not complete so there are parts such as the calendar that are missing as well as the majority of the links).

Be as harsh as you would like (constructively ofc).

    thanks

    Alex

personally I love it, I would use it. But the only thing I might suggest is because of the css, go to www.browsershots.org and view it in the major browsers, it could very well have a fault.

Perhaps if possible where the top box is with the image of that person falling, make it inline with the navigation height wise.

72% of disliked websites are because the mind finds it untidy to not have things parallel. Same goes for any other subject, such attractions between males and females. The face that anyone finds attractive will have parallel eyes and even lengthed nose and the mouth will 6/8 the distance from the left corner of your left eye to the right corner of your right eye. Use this theory on websites.

I would probably do something about the logo, as it is a preset shape in photoshop, it could come back to haunt someone or yourself with a law suite.

One thing to note is that you cannot semantically place div tags inside a tags... when validating your page I got two errors regarding this. However, the site is very professional, looks clean, easy to navigate and works well. I agree that you need to make sure you test it very well in other browsers as when building customer based sites they simply HAVE to work for everyone!

    Good job tho

Thanks for all your replies. Much appreciated. With regards to that browsershots website, I can't seem to get it to give me any results; saying that: This page shows queued requests for a single web address.

    Is there another similar site?

Thanks for pointing out the validation errors...hadn't run it through the validator for a while.

It is a clean website. I do have some hints though:

The links in the right Nav push the container below it down when hovered over.
Put a 'Home' link in the right Nav.
Try making the text a shade darker so ppl with bad eye's can view it easier.

Other than that, I like the design/layout of the links. Very cool home page.

    Thanks again for the replies.

I've made the text slightly darker but I'm not entirely sure why the right nav would be pushing the container below it down when hovered over.(I'm guessing you're using IE6?). It could be something to do with the fact that I used 6.5px for some padding. I'll have to look into it more over the weekend.

Also I've got no idea how to fix all the problems in versions of IE before 6 that were shown by the screenshots.

A new and original logo is on its way too to replace the current photoshop shape

    thanks
