IE 6/7 CSS problems

A little mockup site that is being problematic:

I'm not exactly a web developer, more of a "borrower", so I decided to take a free web design, http://www.mollio.org/ and shoe-horn my other stuff into it.

As expected, its not exactly working out. I don't have IE on my computer so I sort of had a firefox/opera only perspective on the site, which i thought looked great.

Until I saw it in IE, and it made me want to pull me hair out because it looks so rotten. Is there anything I can do about making sure that top header image stays centered? And the menu seems to jump/jitter around in IE, is there a fix for that?

What OS are you using? Your site doesn't look that great on FF1.5.0.7 either.

FreeBSD 6.1 with firefox 1.5.0.6, and you picture is pretty much how I expect it to look.

Now I feel sheepish and incompetent based on your comment.

A lot of graphical fixes need to be made, as well as a few design decisions but thats more or less how I expect it to look at this point, try IE and you should see what I mean.

IE6 doesn't support max-width which looks like it might be the root of your problem. It looks the same in IE7 as it does in FF. IE7 does support max-width.

Thanks, I found a few different max-width resources that deal with IE, I'll try implementing one of them that work and test it out when I can get on a windows system that has IE6.
