Same window popup css/java script?

I'm interested in a css and javascript that opens a popup box in the same window. Similar to this effect (please click a product):

Well, there's thickbox, greybox, and lightbox; all of which could be customised to suit your needs (although lightbox is normally for images).

the second on eis based off the first and was written to be able to write a div and content insde the pop up lightbox creates.
