controlling browser font sizes with javascript

can anybody help me?

am working on a mac and safari and when i do apple + or apple - in a browser window the web fonts in the window get bigger or smaller respectively

am working on a site where i want this to happen from text links. have managed to get it working on safari and ie / firefox on windows with a javascript i found and tweaked, but when i go to a new page, the font size reverts to its original size

any ideas how to keep the font size across all pages once its been changed?
