need a Caldera Dr Dos expert!!

Ok I need someone out there who is a Calder DR DOS expert!!

I am trying to install Windows XP on a hard drive that has nothing on it. I have the motherboard set to boot from the CD ROM, but when it comes to that point, it bypasses the CD ROM drive and starts a program called Caldera DR DOS 7.03. Since you can't install Windows XP in DOS mode, I can't figure out how to get rid of this Caldera DR DOS.

If anyone out there knows now I can get rid of it, so I can boot from the CD ROM, please give me any instructions that you may have.

I've tried searching the net but I can't find anything about getting rid of this program.

Thanks

I'm not "an expert" in DR-DOS. However, ...

Caldera DR-DOS is a BIOS monitor program that runs from ROM. It will be invoked if your system can't find a disk to boot from. Appearently your machine is unable to find a bootable disk so it defaults to the DR-DOS in ROM.

You need to check the CD-ROM drive to make sure it's working properly. It might be that the device controller isn't seeing the drive. You may have a scratched CD. Or, you possibly didn't set up the BIOS to boot from CD-ROM correctly.

when your PC goes to boot from the CD does it try to spin the CD or does it just pass straight on by?

From the problem you describe it's fairly obvoius that the HDD has not been partitioned and formatted yet - which would be done by the windowsXP CD
