Layout Issues

Hi guys -

I coded a small portfolio site whilst at work, and the only browser i had open to me was internet explorer. Obvioulsy it looks how i wanted it to in ie, but in any other browser it looks a bit wrong!

I realise this is because my code is pandering to internet explorers shoddy use of html - but my question is this.... what can i do to improve the compatibility between browsers? My coding is really rusty, and i'm sure there is a better way to implement my layouts, but i'm not totally sure how, any pointers?

Thanks in advance.

Kieran
