New Dreamweaver driving me INSANE!

I recently had to reinstall my OS so I decided to get the newest version of dreamweaver - however its driving me insane...
I redesigning a site for someone, very basic, using DW templates so he can update it easily himself. I put the template together no trouble and now I'm trying to drop content from his existing website into the new template.

I go to the site, copy the parts I want then click on the editable region and paste it in, then do a bit of tweaking here and there, changing a few link addresses etc. However, when I click on the design window it pops up that retarded message that it always does if you edit template pages in code view, about 'You have made changes to regions that are not marked as editable. DO you want to retain these changes' and I say 'yes' and it reverts my document back to when I pasted the content it!

ITS DRIVING ME INSANE!!!

Theres got to be a way to stop it doing that...

I gave DW templates a go a year or so ago and found them a pain in the arse, granted I never really mastered them, server side includes have done everything I wanted to do, and far more elegantly and easily

perhaps some sort of contant management is the way you should go?

This is a freebie I'm doing for his new company just to get him started... when I say friend, its more of someone I'm doing a quick favour for tbh not sure if he can even use SSIs or any kind of database on his hosting.

favours for friends ...

I regret I'm unwilling to reinvestigate DW templates unless I have to and I don't see that happening

i use dw8, templates and nested templates. to get me started i followed the tutorials at macromedia.com and joined the geek forum.

its not that hard and macromedia provide animated tutorials, which for dipsticks like me is great.
