resizing table (really easy:))

hi. i know if i have a table i can make it stetch to fill the window by letting width=100%, and i can let it be so many pixels wide by letting width=800 or whatever. but is there a way so that the table is, say, 800 wide if the window is wider than that, but stetches to fill the page (shrinks) if the window is smaller than 800???
