unable to help i'm affraid

Charon, Bonjour.

You say you are being asked for a user name & password when downloading shareware and freeware. Well, I can't give the answer to that question but I can offer some advise.

Is the password & user name requested by your site or company firewall?

If its the website then you'll need to sign up with them and get a user name and password, if its the firewall then speak to your network administrators to address this.

the username and password is from the shareware / freeware web-site, would it be possible for you to go to download.com and try any of the shareware and freeware, then you will know what I mean. I accessed to others web-site as well, the result is the same whereby they request username and password in order to get their trial version of the software....

hope this time help!!!

works for me

Downloaded a few things with ease. No request for a password and or user name. Both on a corporate network and home pc.

I can only make an assumption now that it is your corporate firewall asking you for this information. That is if you are connecting from work.

Does your pc at home let you download files okay?

If you can't solve this problem, go to www.pcadvisor.co.uk and post down there. They should give you an answer within an hour.

Good luck!
