jaywhy13 is an unknown quantity at this point
Windows media player plays some videos small

Some videos NEVER take up the whole screen... they only take up a small, very small portion... How can I fix that?

Not all videos are encoded in the same resolution, you'll need to convert them your self to the resolution of your choice. VirtualDub can do this, the interface is a bit rough but doesn't take long to get used to. If you go this route you would need to go to the filters under the video menu and then click on add. You would then pick the filter you want, it would be one of the resize filters. Select the compression you want to use. Divx is good and then hit save as and there you have a resized video.
