.htaccess & .htpasswd

i dont get it plz help, i have a .htaccess to stop people from assessing that directory by a pass word but i just comes up with a 500 internl error i have named them propaly and set allowoveride to all so im so confused? by the way i am also using windows 2003 server, below are the .htaccess code and .htpasswd

.htaccess
AuthUserFile c:\Program Files\?????\.htpasswd
AuthType Basic
AuthName "My Files"
Require valid-user

.htpasswd
zantor:???????????

????= apropiat infomation not needed to be shown!

What server are you using? If your using ISS they won't work.

i am using easyPHP wich has apache and mysql in!

You mean IIS, Internet Information Services.

no it is not iss just easyPHP wich comes with apache

it might be a problem with the space in the path, try putting the .htpasswd file somewhere else, or, it might be the c:\ bit, try just \

You got Apache set up correctly? I've seen these errors before caused by config problems...
